The competition for this month is

'Arenal'

Next months competition theme is 'Arenal'. These photos are to be taken as part of our evening in the Arenal on 1st July. As the result of the discussion at last months meeting one of the photographs that you submit to the September competition must be taken of a particular item / subject on the Arenal the second photo can be of anything that you take on the evening. The nominated item / subject Colin will tell you on the evening.

We judged the photographs last months competition in the 'new' section and in first place was Valencia by Ulrich Metzger and second was 'Towers' by Eve Jenkins. In the archived section we had several entries this month and the winner was Peter Atkinson with 'Twin Towers' and second was Bill Bewley with 'Cathedral'. This months photos are in the gallery.

After the break and the raffle we then put away the archive photographs. We then used the scoring sheets that Colin had designed to mark each of the new photographs on each of 6 criteria. Once the marking was over we asked each photographer to talk about their new image and we then had a critiques and discussion session that lasted until just before closing time.

To round the evening off we then went through the results of the new scoring system. The winning photograph was still the same but the order of the remaining photos shuffled around quite considerably. The committee will refine the new scoring system over the summer break so that it will be ready for use in September after the summer break.

The competition against Bangor has been confirmed and this year we will be choosing the themes. Both clubs images will again be judged by a professional judge.
